Welcome, Gloria Gale as the next featured artist in our Saturday Sidewalk Series. Join us on the sidewalk outside Gallery V for another fresh-air weekend. Watch Gloria paint a work in progress, revealing the secrets of her expressive freedom! Known for her more Impressionistic style and color palette, Gloria paints loosely and quickly, in a sketch-like fashion, with her brush on canvas. Frequently painting outdoor scenes of Kansas or mountains, she loves to pack her painting supplies to take along to her favorite places of travel. Rather than painting from a photograph, she prefers to capture the moment at that very first impression, rendering the essence of the air and sky, the sun and nature in its continual movement.
Gloria grew up in a creative family with a mother who was a wonderful cook and a father, an artist. Her own passions for art emerged from these influences. Gloria received a degree in art from the University of Missouri, Columbia and taught art for 10 years in the Shawnee Mission School District. Expanding upon her creative interests, she later became a docent for the Nelson-Atkin Museum of Art and a food editor for several publications. Today, she continues learning by participating in various educational art workshops and enjoys traveling the world every moment she can.
